Qualifiying for nationals

Technically 5th in the nation on everything that I have seen. But I think it is exciting. Two weekends ago, we participated at a meet in Winfield. For one of my throws, everything just fell into place. I threw a 44.25 meter throw, which is about 145ft 2in. This throw did lots for me, lots of exciting things for me. 1. I won first place in the meet. 2. I jumped to first in the KCAC conference. 3. I broke the school record. 4. I qualified for the national meet. And 5. Am currently ranked 5th in the Nation.

Like I said all exciting. Since I qualified for Nationals I will travel to Marion, Ind. for the National Meet the week after the year ends. This is also exciting because it is where my father grew up so we are going back to familiar territory. It is so awesome. I am the so far the only one from Bethel who has qualified. We have two more girls who are hoping to qualify at a meet this coming weekend.

Although this is really exciting, it is also super nerve racking. We had our conference meet this past week (Thursday and Friday), and I didn’t do as good as I hope. I got second in discus, which isn’t bad, I am still happy with it and the girl who beat me came to compete. I am more disappointed at my performance because I know I can do better. But that is behind me.

I am currently practicing for nationals, which so far this week hasn’t gone great. I am practicing and going to be working hard. I will be ready to compete and have my family by my side which makes this even more exciting. My coaches will also accompany me and I will be starting the beginning hopefully of two more years of qualification.
